WATCH: Dangers of consuming bacterial biofilm in water
The biofilm can contain many species of bacteria including Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli, and Legionella just to name a few.

We are all guilty of it. Refilling our water bottles or our pet’s water bowls without properly washing the dish or bottle.
But what we don’t realise is that we are exposing ourselves to dangerous bacteria because of a build up of slime or bacterial biofilm.
It’s inevitable when our pets eat and drink, the bacteria in their mouths end up in their bowls. This is how that gooey biofilm forms. The bowl is wet from their tongues giving the microbes a nice place to call home.
Rub your water or your pet’s water between your fingers and feel if it’s slimy.
The biofilm can contain many species of bacteria including Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli, and Legionella just to name a few.
These four can make you and your family very sick. If allowed to excessively build up in those bowls, it can pollute your dog’s food and water and make them sick too.
