Amanzimtoti seconds clinch Junior Murray Cup
Ethekwini Refectories Amanzimtoti thanks it loyal supporters.
Amanzimtoti Rugby Club’s second team is celebrating winning the Junior Murray Cup, while the first team is still wondering what happened.
The second team players deserved their glass of champagne after annihilating Richards Bay 41-0. The men from the North had no answer to Toti’s continuous onslaught and wave after wave of attack, and they could only helplessly watch as their opponents from the South kept on crossing their try line to hammer in yet another nail in their coffin.

The opening win paved the way perfectly for the main meal of the day and all hopes were pinned on Toti taking the double. But it was not to be. The first team’s match got off to a brilliant start for the Toti Terriers as they controlled the game against Richards Bay and went into a 12-0 lead after two tries, one of which was converted, within the first 15 minutes of the game. Richards Bay came back strongly to trail 12-10 at half-time.

The second half was a real ding dong battle, as neither side wanted to allow the other to take the lead. This was the case, as both teams lead at different times throughout the second half. Toti had their opportunity to seal the game after they created many opportunities, but couldn’t finish off and Richards Bay eventually sneaked into a six point lead that was just too far for the Terries to come back. It was a hard fought, but deserved 16-12 win for the men from the north.
Ethekwini Refectories Amanzimtoti thanks it loyal supporters for their support during this season and look forward to their continued support in 2020.
