Sadness looms as fellow bowlers bid farewell to Brian and Trish Farmer

The club’s prize-giving takes place on Saturday, 26 October at 9.30am for 10am

It is with sadness that Winkle Bowling Club bids farewell to ex-president, Brian Farmer and vice president, Trish Farmer.

The club’s members thank them both for all their hard work and dedication given to the club over the two years spent in office. Their welcoming, friendly and smiling faces will be missed by all. The club wishes them both all the very best in their new venture.

The club’s prize-giving takes place on Saturday, 26 October at 9.30am for 10am. Dress code is white. There will be a bring and braai after the prize-giving.

Club competitions have now been finalised with results as follows;

In the mixed nominated pairs semi final Wessie van der Westerhuizen and Margaret van Belkum defeated John Scott and Lynn Fitzsimmons. In the finals of the mixed nominated pairs Alan Raubenheimer and Lou Bingham were winners defeating Wessie van der Westerhuizen and Margaret van Belkum.

Winners of the men’s nominated trips finals were Mike Kruger, André Gelderblom and Brian Hollis who overcame Ivan van den Berg, Paul Hedley and Eric Morsner.

In the women’s Kwik Spar Winkle trips played on Thursday, 3 October, overall winners were Jeanne Alexander, Jane Coetzee and Dawn Schauer. The second session went to Estelle van der Merwe, Wilma Richter and Lorna Sourgen while the first session was won by Maureen Warrior, Sheila Court and Elbie Fourie. The hundred board was won by Alet Wobben and the mystery prize was won by Margaret van Belkum.

The greens are now closed for maintenance. Chicken schnitzel, mash with cheese sauce and veggies is on the menu and pudding is fruit salad and ice cream. Contact Norma Raath should you wish to attend.

New summer starting time for social bowls in November when the greens re-open will be 2.30pm for 3pm. The club wishes all those with birthdays in the month of October a blessed year ahead.
