Umkomaas golfers enjoy successful weekend

Patrick Ndlovu played in the Southern KZN open champs held at San Lameer Country Club on Sunday, 3 November, and flew Umkomaas Golf Club’s flag proudly as he collected his prize for the best nett over 36 holes in the A division.

Congratulations to visitor Ryan Mardon, who scored an ace on the uphill fourth at Umkomaas a few weeks ago.

His well-struck shot was always going to be close, but it was only once he reached the green that he realised it had ended up six inches below the surface.

After most of the members enjoyed a few drinks supporting the Springboks as they cruised to a third World Cup victory, the monthly medal field was small.

Eighteen intrepid golfers went out and enjoyed the fantastic course conditions and still afternoon weather. ‘Big Joe’ Mkhungu played three better than his handicap to win the A division on 39 points and take the Halfway Malanda monthly mug on a nett 67.

The B division was won by Christopher Pillay who also played better than his handicap making 38 points.

Willy Boucher’s 31 points was enough to win the C division.

Two clubs were claimed by Chris Pillay and Natalie Singer.
