Honours board trips commenced last weekend at ABC after the weather delay.
Going through to the second round of the men’s nominated trips were Mike Groom, Keith West and Ray Robinson; Doug Joubert, Brian Masters and Mike Pitchers; Vince Marriott, Dennis Hughes and Andrew Pearce; Gustav Somers, Vish Studinski and Wessie van der Westhuizen; and Glen Scorgie, Alec Stirzaker and Fred Rautenbach. Jeanne Alexander, Amanda Ninow and Maggie Robertson went through to the second round of the women’s drawn trips.
In the women’s Kwikspar trips the winners were Vera Broskie, Kathy Cox and Dawn Schauer; runners-up were Lulu Bingham, Elmarie Young and Bessie Vergottini; and the second session was shared between Denise Bingham, Amanda Ninow and Dani Cardoso as well as Jeanne Alexander, Tokkie de Kock and Jane Coetzee. The 100 board was won by Maggie Robertson.
The winners of the men’s 242 were Dave Kemp and Eric Morsner; runners-up were Mike Groom and Ray Robinson; and the second session was won by Glen Scorgie and Peter Callaghan.
Marion Crouch, Leigh Callaghan, Doreen Salmond and Hilary Lindsay won the women’s mutton; runners-up were Heather Brown, Kathy Cox, Lys McDonald and Marilyn Thiart; and the second session was won by Jeanne Alexander, Talla Stephens-Viviers, Heather Cooper and Jane Coetzee.
The men’s mutton was won by Ian Crouch, Lofty van Tonder, Vish Studinski and Greg McLeod; in second place were Brian Masters, Terry Morgan, Trevor Zulch and Paul Davies; and the second session went to Pete Callaghan, Clive Frank, Vince Phaal and Ian Mills. The 100 board was won by George Glaves; beer prizes were won by Kathy Cox, Mike Roberts and Heather Cooper.
A fun day of bowls on behalf of the Picardy Bazooka Shell Hole will be played on Sunday, 1 December, at 8.30am. This will be open to all, and non-bowlers are welcome. Spare bowls will be available.
The format will be mixed drawn two bowl trips. Cost is R30 per player which includes tea and sandwiches, and lunches will be on sale. The dress code is flat-soled shoes and civvies.

Happy birthday wishes go this week to Lesley Stephens-Viviers. At TGIF, Robbie Roberts won the 100 board. Jean Snyman was not at the club to win the members draw.
In the key draw, John Hewgill was unlucky and did not choose the winning key; next week’s lucky key is worth R9 560.
Burgers and Bowls will be played on Thursday, 5 December, at 5pm for 5.30pm. Note there will be three festive Burger and Bowls on consecutive Fridays; 27 December, and 3 and 10 January 2020. All are welcome, wear flat soled shoes and civvies. Bowls are available for non-bowlers.
