Kingsburgh Welfare faces closure
All fundraisers, workshops and charity shop activities have been put on hold. Throughout the lockdown, the organisation was instrumental in providing material support to the community and funding has now almost completely dried up. The work the organisation has done in the community is incredible especially since it is relatively small.
The committee of the Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare is saddened that the organisation remains closed and cannot operate its charity shop. The organisation is not government funded and has been unable to raise enough support and funding to secure its future.
“We had several plans to celebrate our milestone birthday unfortunately all of them were put on hold due to the lockdown. We never imagined that instead of celebrating, our organisation would be facing closure. A number of ways to operate have been looked at as well. We desperately need younger residents to start volunteering, since all of our current volunteers are over the age of 70 they are unable to assist during this trying time,” said chairman of the organisation Rev Andrew Manning.

Rev Andrew said that it was demoralising and that when he joined, as chairman he stated that there would be a need to adapt to changes, without realising how big of a change was coming.
