Woman robbed and stabbed in Amanzimtoti

He was seen walking in the short sugarcane.

A suspect who robbed and stabbed a woman for her cellphone in Whitfield Dr, St Winifreds was apprehended on Friday, 25 September.

The CCPO control room received the call at about 7am and multiple Units responded. Medical care was arranged for the victim and with a good description of the suspect’s clothing, response officers started to search the area.
“Our tactical response team (TRT) went in a Southerly direction and it was not long after that he was seen walking in the short sugarcane.

From high vantage points, the team was able to get a very good look at the suspect with their binoculars and he was wearing the same clothing description as given to us,” said ET Rapid Response’s Tony Lokker.

With the team observing the suspect, Metro K9 unit was informed. Sgt Shawn Jooste arrived a short while later and with the team directing him, managed to apprehend the suspect. A knife was found in his possession, but the cellphone was unfortunately ditched before he was caught. He was positively identified and charged with robbery from a person, GBH and possession of a dangerous weapon.
