#HopeForDaniel – Little fighter needs assistance

The one-year-old has been in the hospital for 80 days to date and it has been an uphill battle for his parents.

Heart-breaking is the first word that comes to mind when one sees Daniel Clifford Fowels laying on a hospital bed with tubes and cords connected to his little body.   The little fighter was born with skeletal dysplasia which is a rare genetic disorder that affects bones and joints and hinders children’s growth and development.  He was a twin and at eight weeks in the womb, his twin succumbed. After a long and difficult pregnancy, the miracle baby was named after Daniel and the Lions in the bible for his fighting spirit and determination to live through everything as well as his late grandfather, Arnold Clifford Davy.

“Daniel was born with many complications that we knew about already from scans which we had been prepared to take on as challenges to overcome,” said his father, Tyron.  He has scoliosis of the spine, which is a curvature of the spine, and his hips are not how they need to be. His hands and fingers are not straight like they should be and we have been instructed to use splints whenever possible. We have been to bone specialists about his hands, legs and feet, as he has one flat foot and very double-jointed knees to the point that getting him to walk will be a struggle and more than likely we are looking towards more operations to get his little knees to be able to carry his body, This news we only got recently. According to research which we have done, a common occurrence when losing a twin within the womb it can contribute towards the surviving baby’s body structure, especially the curving of the spine.”

The one-year-old has been in the hospital for 80 days to date and it has been an uphill battle for his parents.

“It has been exhausting. We have to find ways to distract ourselves. We sold most of our assets and even though we do have medical aid, we still have to pay for specialists and other procedures. We hold fundraisers, auction off items and we also have a crowdfunding campaign, but we desperately need assistance.

“If you want to donate and want to pay the suppliers directly, feel free to contact us. A trust fund is currently been opened, where the donations will be transferred for his needs and administrated by a registered FSP provider. A very big thank you to all family, friends and strangers, which we regard as new friends, for all of your help, donations and support. May God continue to bless you all every single day. We are forever grateful to each person.”
