Suspect apprehended and vehicle recovered in Illovo township

The suspects noticed they were being followed, which resulted in pursuit into Illovo Township.

A suspect was apprehended and a vehicle was recovered in Illovo township on Friday, 7 May.

“Information was circulated by a member of Blue Security via the CCPO radio network, reporting that a sought Nissan NP200 was spotted in the Amanzimtoti area. At the same time of the circulation, ET Rapid Response TRT member spotted the wanted vehicle travelling on the R603, and started to follow, while requesting additional assistance,” said operations manager of ET Rapid Response, Louis van Ryneveld.

The suspects noticed they were being followed, which resulted in pursuit into Illovo Township.

“The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into a dense bush. Members from Metro Police K9, SAPS Umlazi K9, CCPO, additional private security members and tracking companies responded to the given location, to assist in the search of suspects. Umlazi K9 members utilized patrol dog, Maximus, and managed to arrest one suspect in the bush. Unfortunately, the second suspect could not be located. Thank you to those who responded and assisted.”
