September springs into clean-up celebrations

In celebration of National Clean Up and Recycle Week which is held on Saturday, September 18, Clean Surf Project (CSP) a special campaign will be held.

Flowers are in bloom and bright sunny days are ahead.  There are many things to do to celebrate during the month of September since it heralds in spring as well as heritage, tourism and environmental month. In celebration of National Clean Up and Recycle Week which is held from Monday, September 13 to Saturday, September 18, Clean Surf Project (CSP) a special campaign will be held. CSP invites community members, schools as well as businesses to join and support clean up campaigns.
The organisation will venture to Umbogintwini Beach, Golf Course Road, Athlone Park and Amanzimtoti.

“In acknowledging International Coastal Clean Up Day, the largest volunteer effort for ocean’s health, which is set to take place on Saturday, September 18 from 09:00 to 11:00,” said CSP’s Romy Wenzel.

Bin bags will be provided however, participants are to bring along water, shoes, sunscreen and a mask.

“In order to comply with current lockdown regulations, the CSP team would like to encourage the public to kindly confirm attendance.”

A clean-up will take place at Umbogintwini Beach from 09:00 to 11:00. Attendees should bring along water, shoes, gloves, sunscreen and a mask. Parking is available at the Amanzimtoti Country Club situated at 1 Golf Course Road, Athlone Park. The community is encouraged to join in order to keep the sea, rivers and beaches plastic-free.
