#KZNFLOODS:Ward 97 services update
Technicians have been working around the clock to restore services.

WARD 97 councillor, André Beetge has urged residents to stay home and remain calm as the ward faces water and electricity shortages. The N2 road to Durban remains congested and he has requested people to stay off the roads.

Speaking on Thursday, April 14, Beetge further asked residents to stay alert as the threat of looting remained real after incidents were reported in Prospecton and Umlazi. He asked for the remaining water to be conserved while technicians worked to repair pumps and fill reservoirs.
The ward’s water consumption is 100 kilolitres a day but currently only 20 kilolitres can be pumped.
“Please save water. This is not the time to wash cars or long showers because all available water now needs to be saved for drinking purposes. If you have a swimming pool, use that water to flush your toilet. We don’t know when we are going to be fully functional again, so please, if you have some water, share with your neighbours,” said Beetge.
He said there have been problems with the municipal water tankers because of the congested road. They have to go to Durban North or in the outer west to fill up.
He said more electricians are also on the ground attending to outages and other faults but their work has been mostly hampered by water-logging.
