Warning issued over rains

Residents are requested to stay off the roads to keep them open in case emergency services need to move.

WARD 97 councillor, André Beetge, has advised residents to heed the warning issued by the South African Weather Service, increasing the warning level for the ongoing rain to Level 10.

Flooding is expected in low-lying areas, as well as on saturated ground. Beetge said the eThekwini Municipality, as well as as all emergency services are are on high alert to deal with any eventuality.

“We’ve already had some confirmation of landslides, as well as flooding on some roads, which include the N2 and some of the side roads. Residents are requested to stay off the roads to keep them open in case emergency services need to move,” said Beetge.

He also confirmed that eThekwini will remain exempt from loadshedding during this time.
