The Sapphire Coast Tourism office encourages businesses to register and enter before or on the closing date on January 20.

THE Sapphire Coast Tourism office has encouraged businesses in the tourism and hospitality sectors to enter the second annual Durban Tourism Business Awards set to take place on June 15.

Sapphire Coast Tourism’s Romy Wenzel said that certain categories – in particular, service-excellence [accommodation], do require a CTO [community tourism organisation] membership registration. Non-members are also welcome to contact their office in order to sign up.

She said a new category – crafters – has been added to the awards. “We invite all local crafters to take this opportunity to register on or before the closing date, tomorrow, January 20. All in all, the purpose of the awards is to reward people who deliver excellence in tourism in Durban and surrounds,” said Wenzel.

The benefits of these awards are the prizes up to the value of R50 000 for winners, with the first runner-up receiving a prize to the value of R35 000 and R25 000 for the second runner-up. All winners and runner-ups will receive a trophy and certificate.

To enter online and read all about the awards categories, visit www.durbantourismawards.com. Alternatively, email info@durbantourismawards.com or call 031 322 4164.
