South Coast beach status update

After the recent round of tests, four beaches remain closed.

THE beach status update that was released on December 29 will remain in effect throughout the weekend, unless there are changes that need to be made. This was said by ward 97 councillor André Beetge as the December holidays draw to a close.

Open beaches:
Pipeline
Amanzimtoti Main
Winklespruit
Karridene
Umgababa

Closed beaches:
Reunion
Isipingo
Doonside
Baggies.

Beetge said additional staff has been allocated to clean any matter at Amanzimtoti main Beach at night on December 31. He advised those who will be discharging fireworks at Amanzimtoti main Beach that they can only do so between 23:45 and 00:15.

“Enjoy the last weekend of 2023 and remember to only swim between the flags at beaches where there are lifeguards on duty,” he said.
