George Snodey of the Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti (CCPO) said the break in happened at around 03:30.

“ET Rapid Response received multiple alarm activations and called the owner of the business. He monitored his CCTV cameras from home and could see activity at the rear of the shop and ET Rapid Response then shared this information over the CCPO radio network. CCPO, ET Rapid Response and Blue Security – Durban responded,” said Snodey.

On arrival, the officers noticed a maroon vehicle near the back of the shop and as they approached it, it tried to speed off.

“The vehicle was intercepted and was found to have multiple boxes of cigarettes suspected to be from the shop. Two suspects were apprehended and handed over to the Amanzimtoti police together with their vehicle,” he said.
