Toti police station’s commander dies

A memorial service for the late Colonel Joseph will be held on January 31 at the Apostolic Church in Newlands West.

THE Amanzimtoti police station has lost its station commander only 11 months after he was appointed to the position. Colonel Gregory David Joseph died on January 29 after a long illness.

He assumed the role at the station in February 2023, but another officer took over in an acting capacity soon after as Joseph became unwell. He leaves behind his wife and two children.

The chairperson of the Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum, Merlene Matthew, sent her condolences to the Joseph family. “May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find comfort in the knowledge that he is at peace,” she said.

A memorial service will be held on January 31 at the Apostolic Church at 118 Hillgrove Drive, Newlands West, from 13:00 to 15:30. Thereafter, the cortege will proceed to the Clare Estate Crematorium to be there from 16:00 to 16:20.
