A BOOMSLANG was rescued at a Prospecton warehouse by a professional snake catcher on December 11.

Warren Dick said Boomslangs do not occur naturally in a heavily industrialised area which is where it was found. These snakes are very venomous and their colours can be leaf-green, bright green, black, brick-red, or rust-red. They have a slender body with a large, blunt head, large eyes and dark-edged scales.

“It was harassed by birds and sought the nearest place it could hide and that was a small space behind concrete guttering on the ground. It took a bit of effort, but I eventually managed to flush it out with some water. It was a beautiful male specimen, probably around 1.3 meters long,” said Dick.

The snake was later released in its natural habitat.
