The man then allegedly took his own life by hanging after the double murder. According to Umkomaas police, who opened an inquest document, it is suspected that the incident happened late on Thursday night (December 19), or in the early hours of Friday morning (December 20).

The motive for the double murder is still unknown.

The incident comes as the community is still reeling from a recent incident where a Scottburgh teacher stabbed and slit the throat of his wife following a domestic dispute. He later posted pictures of his dead wife and a video explaining his actions.

Colonel Netshiunda said police are investigating two murders following the Umgababa incident. “The motive for the killings is still under investigation,” he said.
