Amanzimtoti police share July crime statistics

Amanzimtoti police shared crime statistics of the number of arrests made, the types of crimes committed, and how many convictions were secured.

AMANZIMTOTI police released its crime statistics for July, during which detectives conducted a number of suspect raids to ensure criminals were brought to book and put behind bars.

Amanzimtoti police spokesperson Captain Charlene van der Spuy said that 16 suspects were arrested for contact and property-related crimes, including assault, house robberies and theft.

Van der Spuy added that 18 convictions were secured for general theft, burglaries, shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen property, driving under the influence, and domestic violence.

“We appeal to members in our community to assist the detectives with information that can lead to the successful apprehension and conviction of suspects. The community plays an active role in reporting criminal activities and suspicious behaviour,” said Van der Spuy.
