THE City is advising residents that refuse removal services will continue as normal during the festive season, including public holidays. Residents whose waste collection falls on a holiday will be collected.

The public is urged to place their refuse bags on the verge on the morning of their scheduled collection days.

The Waste Management Directorate offices will be closed on December 25 and 26 and on January 1, 2026. However, operational staff will be on duty throughout the festive season to ensure uninterrupted service.

Orange recycling bags:

Orange recycling bags will not be collected on public holidays. This non-collection applies only to areas scheduled for recyclable collection on the dates mentioned above.

Residents are requested to retain their recyclables and place them out on the next scheduled collection day that does not fall on a public holiday.

Gifts soliciting:

While this is the season of giving, Waste Management Directorate staff are strictly prohibited from soliciting gifts, including money, from residents.

Residents who are approached by staff for gifts are requested to take note of the staff member’s registration number and report the matter via email for further investigation and possible consequence management.

Residents are also advised to be cautious of impostors posing as Waste Management Directorate workers attempting to solicit gifts.

Keeping the city clean:

The City encourages all residents and visitors to enjoy a litter-free festive season. Beachgoers are advised to make use of the strategically-placed street litter bins to dispose of waste.

Residents are also urged to avoid littering and illegal dumping.

Individuals found illegally dumping waste in open spaces will be fined and held responsible for the removal of such waste.
