CCPO guards honoured for Amanzimtoti off-duty arrest
A robbery case was opened after the off-duty guards caught the cellphone robbery suspect following a foot chase.
THREE CCPO guards have been issued certificates of appreciation after assisting in detaining a robbery suspect earlier this month while off duty.

CCPO’s Paul O’Neill said on September 2 at around 15:40, a CCPO supervisor reported over the radio network that a woman had been robbed of her cellphone outside a block of flats on Amanzimtoti’s Beach Road.
“CCPO, ET Rapid, and the metro police K9 Unit responded as the suspect ran up to Kingsway Road, and then towards Adams Road. Raphael Dlamini, Bheki Ngcobo, and Sboniso Xaba, who had just knocked off and were on their way home, caught the suspect near the Adams Road traffic lights,” said O’Neill.
The cellphone was recovered, and a case was opened at the nearby Amanzimtoti police station.
