Men arrested in Amanzimtoti for cable theft
A surveillance operation was held in the early hours of the morning, which yielded positive results.
TWO men were arrested in pouring rain on December 13 in Amanzimtoti after they were caught red-handed stealing electricity cables.
George Snodey of the Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti (CCPO) said in the early hours, its officers were on patrol in Fraser Street when they noticed electricity cables that had been cut.

“Our CCPO supervisor Isaac Dindi posted two security officers in the pouring rain to observe the area,” said Snodey.
Sure enough, a car appeared at around 04:00 and stopped and two men alighted and started collecting the cables that had been cut.
“Our officers called for backup and ET Rapid Response and the CCPO members arrived. They successfully apprehended the suspects, while also Amanzimtoti SAPS arrived to arrest the suspects,” he said.
The vehicle and cables were seized and the men will appear in court soon.
