Man arrested after attempting to steal truck battery

The suspect was arrested and appeared in court after he was caught red-handed by a local security company trying to steal a truck battery.

A MAN was spotted trying to steal a battery from a parked truck in Warner Beach on March 7.

Tony Lokker, of ET Rapid Response, said that officers were dispatched to the call-out and upon arrival, the suspect attempted to flee but was promptly apprehended, detained and handed over to the police for further processing.

Captain Charlene van der Spuy, communications officer for the Amanzimtoti police, said, “A male (36), was apprehended by ET Rapid Response Unit. A case of attempted theft from motor vehicle was opened for further investigation. The suspect was charged and appeared in Amanzimtoti court on March 10.”
