He is charged with eight counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder. Police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said Sanele Dlamini (28) stormed a house in the area where a group of people sat in the evening of June 16, and opened fire.
“Upon arrival at the scene, police found six men and two women, whose ages range between 22 and 40, lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds,” said Netshiunda.
It has not been established whether he acted alone or had an accomplice.
On June 21, a tip-off from a member of the public led the police to a shack in Umlazi where Dlamini was found hiding, and he was arrested. He made his first court appearance on June 23. The case was postponed to July 30 to allow for more investigation. Dlamini will remain behind bars in the interim.
