Four dead in shoot-out with police in Adams Mission

The crimes the men are suspected to have been involved in include armed robberies, house robberies, carjackings and kidnappings.

THE lives of four men who were wanted for various serious and violent crimes came to a bloody end when they were shot dead during a shoot-out with the police in Adams Mission on January 29.

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said the incident happened in the KwaMakhutha policing precinct late in the afternoon. He said the police were on an intelligence-driven operation when they spotted the vehicle matching the description of the one which the suspects were allegedly using to commit crimes in Umbumbulu and other areas. The crimes included armed robberies, house robberies, carjackings and kidnappings. There were five men in the car.

“The police caught up with the suspects on Sheleni Road, and during the confrontation, a shoot-out ensued. After the shoot-out, four suspects were found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds,” said Netshiunda.

During the shoot-out, one of the alleged criminals managed to escape. Netshiunda said a manhunt for him is underway. No police officer was injured during the shoot-out.
