Mystery surrounds murder at Amanzimtoti

A house robbery led to the murder of a father at a housing complex in Amanzimtoti. The perpetrators are still at large, according to police.

SUSPECTS of a murder at a complex along Longacres Drive, Amanzimtoti, are still at large. The heinous act was committed on March 15 and presents more questions than answers for detectives.

Amanzimtoti police spokesperson Captain Charlene Petersen said that a case of murder and house robbery is being investigated by detectives.

“As alleged by the son of the deceased, three unknown suspects entered the house and tied the victims up. He managed to escape and went to a neighbour’s house for help. On their return, they found his father in a pool of blood and unresponsive,” said Petersen.

The suspects made off with equipment estimated to be worth R30 000. She explained that all the doors and windows were found open and it is unclear how the suspects gained entry.
