Nkululeko Yuda (35) is accused of killing Anele Mzila (23), with whom he was in a romantic relationship, and hiding her body under the bed in a rented place until it decomposed. The pair worked together at a call centre, and eyewitnesses reported last seeing Anele at Yuda’s place.
Yuda will make his next appearance on August 17, and the conditions of his bail include that he should not go into KwaMashu, Ntuzuma, or Inanda. He may also not make any contact with witnesses.
Anele was last seen alive on April 28 at Yuda’s place in KwaMashu, and her body was found on May 2. Her family was informed of the grim discovery on May 5 and later made an identification. Yuda has denied committing the murder.
During his May 27 appearance, a woman who claimed to be Yuda’s wife confirmed that he will stay with her should he be given bail. Anele’s sister, Nozipho Mzila, said the family is aware of differing accounts surrounding the accused’s testimony.
“We continue to respect the judicial process and trust that all relevant facts will be properly examined through the appropriate legal channels,” said Nozipho.
