Fun day held in Amanzimtoti

The day was organised as part of the efforts to make the Amanzimtoti CBD attractive again to businesses and shoppers.

On Saturday, August 27, the Amanzimtoti CBD came alive as the community came together for a relaxing day in the sun and to get to know one another at the central square.

The day started at 07:30 with the Australia versus South Africa rugby match on the big screen. People were enjoying different options as they browsed through the flea market, the art gallery and many other stalls.
There was a jumping castle and face-painting for the children, as well as pony rides.

Attempts to revitalise the Amanzimtoti CBD come after years of neglect had led to decay and a rise in crime, which led to many people avoiding the area for safety concerns. Through efforts of Clayton Wayne, a local businessman, and Ward 97 Councillor André Beetge, the whole square has been cleaned and repainted to attract businesses and shoppers back.
