Amanzimtoti N2 crash claims five lives

A two-car collision on the N2 south caused 5 fatalities and 3 moderate injuries.

FIVE people were killed in a collision on the N2 south near the M37 in Amanzimtoti on Sunday evening, December 18, at about 20:30.

Emer-G-Med paramedics, together with Netcare911, responded to the scene where two cars collided.

According to Emer-G-Med’s Kyle van Reenen, “Five people, among them a four-year-old child, suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead on arrival of paramedics.”

He said three others were treated and stabilised on scene for moderate injuries and transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further medical care.

Amanzimtoti police station’s communication officer, Captain Charlene van der Spuy, confirmed the incident and said a case of culpable homicide was opened for further investigation.
