Cricketers make the most of final matchday
The ACC women's team was scheduled to play against African Warriors on the Toti Oval.
DESPITE cricket games being withdrawn, lost and cancelled, the Amanzimtoti Cricket Club (ACC) players made the most out of their last weekend of games for the year.
On December 10, the ACC vets were scheduled to play against Ilembe. Unfortunately, Ilembe withdrew from the game due to the passing of one of the player’s family members. Robin Smith, from the first team, managed to get a mixed-team together to play against the vets in a fun afternoon of cricket.

The junior head coach and manger arranged a 6-a-side tournament for the players, as they have not had many games this season. There were six teams, made up of a mixture of age groups.

“The day was a tremendous success for all the players. The games made for excellent viewing for the parents. A few group games were really close and quite exciting, with the second semi-final going down to a super over and eventually the final ball. Well done to Jono’s Civets who beat the Servals in the final. A day like this would not be the success it was without numerous hands involved,” said the junior head coach, Kelvin Klopper.
On December 11, the ACC first team played Chatsworth Sporting Topham at the Chatsworth Oval. Chatsworth won the toss and opted for ACC to bat. They played reduced overs due to the rain. ACC scored 127 runs off their 35 overs. The runs were scored by Dale Kinsey (12), Corne Nel (21), Robin Smith (16), Sagel Rajakumar (23), and Mason Storm (13).
Chatsworth scored 130 for the loss of 2 wickets, thus winning the game by 8 wickets. Both wickets were taken by Sagel.
The ACC women’s team was scheduled to play against African Warriors on the Toti Oval. Unfortunately, the pitch was too wet to play on.
There are no more games scheduled for the year. Fixtures will resume in January.
