From the editor’s desk: Who will be the winner?

Vote for your favourite business in the Best of Toti Readers' Choice Awards.

EXCITEMENT is mounting since counting has started for the Best of Toti and Bluff, Reader’s Choice Awards. I just love this time of the year where our readers have the opportunity to vote for their most awesome shopping experience. We have already received mountains of votes and I am eager to find out who won.

I’ve been involved with the Readers Choice Awards since 2019 and every year, as impossible as it can be, I try to predict the winners beforehand. Sometime I get it right, and other times I am pleasantly surprised. It is great to see our community involved in this process.

We have also received a few fantastic options to include in next year’s voting process. Unfortunately, since voting has already started, we cannot include the businesses this year, because we need to ensure that everybody has an equal opportunity to get votes.

It’s the 17th year we are hosting the awards and every year it just gets more exciting. Previously known as the Absolute Best, Reader’s Choice Awards, is sporting a new name and logo. If you have a favourite shopping mall, pharmacy, hair salon or even primary or high school, it is now to let the institution know. Your vote will not only afford the local business’s light to shine bright by being the best on the local front, but will also feature in the South Coast and Southlands SUN.

All you, our loyal readers, have to do is to find that business that stands out from the rest. There are about 50 categories to choose from.

The Best of Bluff, also incorporate areas such as Brighton Beach, Fynnland, Grosvenor, Montclair, Ocean View, Treasure Beach, Van Riebeeck Park, Wentworth, Woodhaven, Woodlands and Yellowwood Park. The categories are listed in our weekly voter’s form, but if you prefer the online version click here

Your vote can make a huge difference to local businesses. With a distribution footprint of just over 38 000 copies, the spotlight will shine bright on your favourite shopping experience.

Your vote will immediately afford a local business an opportunity to be recognised at our annual awards evening on June 15, for Southlands SUN and June 22, for the South Coast SUN. Winners will be announced online on June 13 and 15 for the respective papers. Venues will be announced closer to the time.

An added value to cast your vote, is that you can stand a chance to win some awesome prizes. The first prize is a two-night stay, including breakfast for two, valued at R6 300 sponsored by The Blue Marlin Hotel in Scottburgh, and the second prize is a couples full body massage valued at R3 000 sponsored by The View Hotel Boutique and Spa in Amanzimtoti.

You only have to remember to be specific when you cast your vote, such as Checkers Seadoone Mall, and not just Checkers, or BP Montclair and not just BP, and make sure the business is local, because, we all know Local is Lekker.

What are you waiting for, go vote, and remember to let you family and friends know.
