Swift arrests after Athlone Park break-in

A patroller from the Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti spotted the accused carrying a TV on the N2 freeway.

TWO men were arrested earlier today, July 7, after being accused of breaking into a property in Athlone Park and stealing a number of items.

A statement from the Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum said the duo allegedly broke into a property on Linscott Road at 04:00 where they are suspected to have stolen a TV, copper pipes, taps and other items.

“A Community Crime Prevention Organisation Amanzimtoti (CCPO) patroller, on his way home, spotted the accused carrying a TV on the N2 freeway. Blue Security Durban responded and managed to apprehend them and took them back to the scene of the break-in,” it said.

A resident at the property confirmed that the TV they had in their possession had been stolen at the property. Amanzimtoti SAPS were called to charge the suspects and book them into custody.
