Operation Bobbi Bear struggles for support [Video]
The human rights organisation appeals to the community for donations as they prepare for an influx of children through their doors during the holiday season.
WHILE tirelessly trying to support abused children, especially during the holiday season, Operation Bobbi Bear is faced with more challenges amid misconceptions.
Director of the human rights organisation, Eureka Olivier, said they are saddened to learn that while many non-profit organisations are struggling, there are some who drag others down for personal gain.

“Despite misconceptions that we are inundated with donations, in reality, our fridges and cupboards are bare, and our morale is low. This is a difficult time of the year for many non-profits, so we should be working together for the greater good of the community that we serve,” she said.
Olivier said they currently have 15 children at the home, with numbers expected to increase during the festive season.
“December is our busiest time of the year – dealing with cases of alcohol-related domestic violence and providing care for abandoned and abused children. While others are packing Christmas presents, we are packing rape bags,” she said.
Eureka said they would love to host a Christmas party for the children this year, however, there is an urgent need for food and/or Checkers vouchers to buy items when needed, such as various nappies and formulas.
“On that note, we would like to thank the people who have loyally supported us over the years and who love and care for the children on the property. We wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas,” she said.
Operation Bobbi Bear has an open-door policy and reminds the community that they are on standby 24/7 for any rape or abuse cases.
