The club’s Jenny Perkins said, “This year, members donated non-perishable items, which we made into three hampers that were then raffled. We raised about R5 000, and decided to share the proceeds among Jona Vaughan Home for the Handicapped, Amanzimtoti SPCA and the Kingsburgh Lions Club.”
Representatives of the organisations expressed gratitude for the club’s generosity.
Elizabeth Khumalo, manager at Jona Vaughan Home for the Handicapped, said the donation of sweet treats means a lot to them. “We have 72 residents, and depend on donations such as this from the community.”
Tony Marron, president of the Kingsburgh Lions Club, said the money has been put into their fund and will be used for various community projects.
Michelle Hannan of the Amanzimtoti SPCA thanked the club for their generous donation of cat and dog food for the animals in their care.
