Uthingo Crisis Centre hosts successful school-shoe project
Disadvantaged learners from various schools received school shoes from Uthingo Crisis Centre's school-shoe project.

UTHINGO Crisis Centre is grateful for all those who assisted with its school-shoe project in order to provide footwear to learners in and around Amanzimtoti.
The organisation’s Erika Clifton-Parks extended gratitude to all the stakeholders, teachers, principals and learners who graced the handover event recently. “The support and enthusiasm from everyone involved made the event a resounding success,” she said.

The primary objective of the initiative was to provide essential footwear to children identified by their respective schools.
“The project aimed to boost their confidence, foster a sense of belonging and eliminate any feelings of difference among the learners,” said Clifton-Parks.
Witnessing the smiles on the faces of the children during the shoe handover was heartwarming for members of the organisation.
“We believe that providing these shoes contributes significantly to the overall well-being and confidence of the children, making them feel like vital members of their school community,” said Clifton-Parks.
The organisation gave thanks to its community partners: the Amanzimtoti Community Police Forum; Amanzimtoti and Bhekithemba police stations; Amanzimtoti Trauma Unit; the Department of Community, Safety and Liaison; the educational community, and the Mthombeni, Ekuphileni, Empumeleweni, Kusakusa and Josephine Makhanya primary schools. They also wish to thank the event sponsors: Amanzimtoti Methodist Church; Merlene and Jodash Mathew from Jarefs Paints; Being Helping Hands and Friends of Uthingo.
