Three ensnared animals rescued in three different areas by Snare Aware

Snare Aware received three calls regarding ensnared animals, leading the organisation to conduct sweeps in the areas.

AS the dry winter thins out the bushes, poachers have had the time and space to run rampant and terrorise the local fauna, according to a Snare Aware member.

The member, whose identity will remain anonymous for their safety, said, “We have had three reports of animals being released from snares recently. A domestic dog in Desainagar, a duiker in Bothas Hill and another dog in Crestholme. On each occasion, we either had a member involved at the scene, or we did a follow-up sweep in the same area shortly afterwards. All three areas had more snares set, which were found and removed by our team members.”
