Touching hearts and inspiring hope in Isipingo for 15 years

During its 15 years in existence, the Touching Hearts Initiative has been involved in many projects, including feeding schemes.

THE Touching Hearts Initiative is an NPO working in and around the Isipingo area. It hosted a Christmas party for children at the STM Hope Centre on November 16.

The children were treated to delicious meals, party packs, stationery packs, snacks and a special Christmas gift.

The NPO was established in 2010 by director Candice Chetty and will celebrate its 15th year on December 17.

Chetty proudly said that the initiative lived up to its name and made a difference. She said she was delighted that the children enjoyed the party.

“Over the past 15 years we have been involved in various projects, including feeding schemes, stationery drives, winter warming projects, Christmas parties and more. Our focus is mainly child-centric. We believe that every child is special. Most of the children that join our projects are from neglected, disadvantaged and poor households,” explained Chetty.

One of its monthly projects is called “Ignite her Hope”, which entails a meeting with 25 girls. Chetty said that the girls are taught a valuable life lesson, given a hot meal and a toiletry pack which is sponsored by generous community members.

All the NPO’s projects take place at the STM Youth and Hope Centre in Orient Hills.
