Seadoone murder suspects transferred to Kokstad maximum prison

Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande were taken into custody in November 2025 following a prolonged extradition process from Eswatini.

THE two Ndimande brothers, who are allegedly connected to the murder of a taxi owner at Seadoone Mall in November 2022, as well as the 2023 killings of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his chef Tebello Motsoane, have been transferred to the high-security eBongweni Correctional Centre, a super maximum security prison in Kokstad.

Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande were taken into custody in November 2025, following a prolonged extradition process from Eswatini, where they had allegedly fled. Their legal representative, Advocate Simphiwe Mlotshwa, said the Department of Correctional Services’ decision to move the brothers from Westville Prison to the eBongweni facility has negatively affected consultations with their defence team.

Mlotshwa addressed the Durban Magistrate’s Court on January 9, during the brothers’ virtual court appearance, where the accused appeared on screen, seated at a boardroom table. He told the court that the defence only became aware of the transfer on January 2.

“We are awaiting a response from the Department of Correctional Services to determine the reasons for their removal. We are requesting that the accused be returned to Westville Prison,” said Mlotshwa.

He added that consultations at the Kokstad facility are limited to 30 minutes. Senior prosecutor Advocate Elvis Gcweka confirmed that the accused had been transferred to Kokstad but did not provide reasons for the move.

Mlotshwa said the defence was seeking a provisional postponement of the matter to February 20 to allow time for clarity before making an informed decision.
