Heaps of improperly discarded rubbish, including beer bottles and food containers, have highlighted a worrying disregard for the environment. Against this backdrop, Sapphire Coast Tourism has acknowledged the outstanding efforts of the Clean Surf Project and For the Strength of Youth (FSY) following their impactful beach clean-up at Karridene Beach, north of the Msimbazi Lagoon, on January 9. With the support of 206 passionate young participants aged between 14 and 31, the team removed 25 bags of litter and a plastic tray. Metres of plastic cable piping were also carefully dug out of the sand through teamwork and determination.
“These collective efforts play a vital role in protecting our marine life, preserving our coastline, and ensuring the Sapphire Coast remains a clean, safe and beautiful destination for both locals and visitors,” said Sapphire Coast Tourism.
The organisation extended its thanks to the Clean Surf Project, FSY, ATKV Natalia and every participant who contributed their time, energy and passion towards environmental stewardship.
