Warner Beach learner wins City mascot designing competition
The competition encouraged learners across the municipality to showcase their creativity while learning about sustainable waste management.
ETHEKWINI Municipality named Warner Beach Preparatory School learner Arielle Ramadu as the winner of the Design a Mascot campaign for the City’s Department of Solid Waste on February 19.

Her mascot design, Nono, was chosen as the winner, receiving R30 000 for her school to put towards its recycling campaign.
Created through the 2025 School Mascot Design Competition that was run with Fibre Circle, Nono’s name is derived from the isiZulu word inono, meaning clean or neat.
In a statement, eThekwini said the competition encouraged learners across the municipality to showcase their creativity while learning about sustainable waste management.
“Through Nono, the City aims to inspire residents of all ages to take pride in keeping our communities clean and green. Let us all do our part in protecting the environment,” it said.
