South Coast heritage festival slated for September

The South Coast Heritage Festival is expected to bolster tourism along the Sapphire Coast, featuring expos, music, a fun walk and more.

THE official launch of the South Coast Heritage Festival, which will be hosted by Uphawu Oluhle Events and Hospitality, saw stakeholders and local leadership discuss the festival at the Amanzimtoti Country Club and Conservancy on March 6.

The festival is set for September 24-27 and will include a youth and business expo, a gala dinner, music festival and a 5km fun run/walk.

While Ward 97 councillor André Beetge took attendees down memory lane and taught them about Amanzimtoti’s rich history, Sapphire Coast Tourism’s Romy Wenzel expressed her hopefulness about the host of benefits such a festival could bring to the South Coast.

“Thank you to Uphawu Oluhle Events and Hospitality for hosting the gathering, celebrating the region’s art, culture, heritage and tourism offerings across the Sapphire Coast,” said Wenzel.

Delani Gumede, the project’s manager, thanked stakeholders for their support of the event.

“Because of your sponsorship, we were able to bring people together, create meaningful experiences, and achieve the goals we set for this event. Your support made a real difference, and we hope you felt proud to be part of such a memorable occasion. We look forward to working with you again during the main event from September 24-27,” said Gumede.

After the formalities guests enjoyed a scenic stroll along the green mile nature trail thanks to local guide Bruce Munro.
