Schoolchildren injured in scholar transport crash in Amanzimtoti

There were multiple injured and three trapped passengers in a scholar transport vehicle following a horrific motor vehicle crash.

TWO schoolchildren and one adult passenger were trapped in a scholar transport vehicle this morning (April 24) near the Amanzimtoti Sports Centre following a motor vehicle crash. In total, there were three adults and seven learners who suffered minor to severe injuries.

eThekwini Fire and Emergency Services worked tirelessly to safely remove the adult, and high school and primary school learners from the vehicle.

Based on information from a reliable source on the scene, who opted to remain anonymous, just before the bridge near Amanzimtoti Sports Centre, a scholar transport taxi collided with another vehicle, causing it to veer off the road into a tree.

Emergency services, from towing companies to security services and metro Amanzimtoti police, attended to the scene.
