Fancy-footed Toti line dancers shine at masters

Amanzimtoti dancers took part in the recent Line Dancing South Africa Masters competition, where they danced their hearts out.

FANCY footwork was par for the course as dancers from Amanzimtoti-based dance institution, Rhythmic Arts Academy, shone in the annual Line Dancing South Africa Masters from July 3-5 at the Yellowwood Park Civic Centre.

The competition gave dancers a platform to show off their dance moves, be recognised for all their hard work and painstaking training, and for their passion to shine on the dance floor.

Rhythmic Arts Academy’s Minette Landman, who placed third in the intermediate crystal division, expressed overwhelming pride for her dancers. In the starter primary division, Chloe Botes came fourth, while Nathalie Pearson achieved fifth in the novice crystal division.

Landman also shone brightly with her masterful moves, winning the charity dance and earning herself a trophy to boot. She added that the academy also had a dancer in the shining steps category, which is specifically designed for special needs dancers.

“We are so grateful for this awesome new category, and hope it opens up the world of dancing to more special needs people in the future. Every dancer was recognised and made to feel so incredibly special. This is what dancing is about, inclusiveness,” said Landman.

She thanked Lesley Ann Coombs Klewinghaus and Jerome Edwards for their guidance leading up to the competition.

“It was a long competition, filled with sparkling outfits, hair gel, make-up, glitter and most importantly, tons of laughter and camaraderie. Thank you to the organisers for a very well run competition. The memories will remain until we meet again,” said Landman.
