Take note of planned water shutdowns

Shutdowns of the Almond Road reservoir are expected to affect water supply to areas in Amanzimtoti and surrounds from October 6-8.

THE Almond Road reservoir will be shut multiple times from October 6-8 for repairs, cleaning and tie-in connections.

Ward 97 councillor André Beetge explained that on October 6, there will be an eight-hour planned shutdown for repairs to a 400mm steel pipe and reservoir cleaning, from 08:00-16:00.

Affected areas include:

High-lying areas of Almond Road, Astra Park, Illovo Fire Department, Lower Illovo Business Park and the Illovo Syrup node.

This is due to an earlier postponement resulting from an emergency elsewhere.

Low level reticulation areas will be affected by a 12-hour shutdown on October 7 from 19:00 until 07:00 on October 8.

“This so that the sewer department can complete two 400mm tie-in connections at the Kingsway Sewer Pumpstation.

Affected areas include:

Kingsway, Warner Beach, Winklespruit, Illovo beach, Panorama Park, Protea Karridene Hotel, Buena Vista and Umgababa.
