CCPO’s Paul O’Neill said at around 03:00, the CCPO guards were patrolling Almond Road in Warner Beach when they noticed men in a white Toyota loading cables.

“The guards radioed for assistance, but when their supervisor and ET Rapid Response responded to the area, the suspects had disappeared. Cut cables could be seen hanging from poles in North Way in Warner Beach. Warner Beach South Neighbourhood Watch members assisted in searching for the suspects and a short while later, the guards called for assistance again as the suspects were back stealing more cable,” said O’Neill.

Two ET Rapid Response vehicles chased the suspects’ vehicle onto the N2 and managed to stop them near Prospecton. Upon inspection, rolls of cable were found in the vehicle by the police.

The vehicle and the suspects were taken to the Amanzimtoti police station for further investigation. O’Neill expressed gratitude to all those involved for great teamwork.
