
* THERE is a possibility hand gliding could be re-opened on Athlone Park Ridge, and the proposal has generally been favourably received by local residents. Although council had taken a decision to refuse the application made by the Natal Hang Gliders Association, the matter to be referred back came from councillor John Bosman who was absent when the application first came up for discussion.
* DEPUTY chief traffic officer of protection services, Terry Lange and health inspector, Tommy Brinkwater of Kingburgh went to the assistance of an unidentified man early this week when an alleged suicide attempt was made outside Little Stores mini-market.
* A GENERAL warning is issued to bathers at beaches along the Upper South Coast to beware of jellyfish and bluebottles. The prevailing winds have brought in an influx of jellyfish and bluebottles and these are to be found in the surf and washed up on the beaches.
* THERE will be no free parking in the afternoons on a trial basis at the park and pay area near Kentucky Fried Chicken in Toti until a meeting is held with all interested parties. As a matter of urgency the matter was raised by councillor Bill Streek at the general purposes committee meeting held on November 28.
* NEW playground equipment being installed at Rogie Park in Amanzimtoti has been vandalised, swing seats in another park were destroyed and an attempt made to smash a seesaw. Toti town clerk, Dave Ongley is appealing to anyone witnessing the vandalism of municipal equipment in the municipal parks or elsewhere to report it to the nearest law enforcement officer.
* THE war games added a year ago with much fanfare in Toti never really took off at the area on Old Main Road on the property belonging to Mrs Caroline Alterskye. An application has now been received by council that the area to be re-zoned from special zone to special residential.
