EDITOR – As the outgoing chairman I would like to take this opportunity to thank the CCPO committee for their outstanding work they achieved in this organisation during my time in office, together with the law enforcement agencies namely SAPS and Metro Police and of course the loyal community who joined this extremely valued service.
Our main objective was to turn the finances around in order to ensure we had sufficient funds in our account to plan and execute the necessary committee objectives.
The workload was immense in terms of the administration and the committee realised we needed a solid database in order to track membership and income efficiently at the touch of a button.
In order to conduct and monitor the new system, we needed to employ a CEO who had the necessary background and experience in the security industry and who could drive our goals daily to achieve this task. The committee employed Eugene Engelbrecht who had this vast experience and proved to be an asset to our organisation in carrying out the objectives. In this time we brought the guarding function in-house, that is to say the CCPO for the first time carried out the guarding function with its own managers and supervisors. This proved to be a major cost saver and streamlined our core function.
The treasury function was offered to the committee by Willie Schultz, who is a local CA in our community and who has assisted in streamlining the finances, together with the new billing systems which is ongoing.
The CCPO model is a extremely valuable asset to our community and needs to be protected and funded properly in order to protect this community we live in for now and in the future.
I am confident the new chairman Albert Swart and his new committee will do just that and I wish him and the new committee the best going forward.
