EDITOR – I have something serious on my mind, which I would like to bring to the attention of the traffic authority of the greater Amanzimtoti area, in that some drivers can either not read or simply ignore the word ‘stop’ at an intersection.
In this particular case, I am talking about the intersection at Stanwick and Seadoone roads in Doonheights (close to Seadoone Mall), where some drivers just don’t care.
Their negligence makes me both furious as well as sad, because my son almost lost his life as a result of a driver failing to slow down or stop at this intersection, and although I have seen the same thing happening over and over, I myself was almost involved in a serious accident this week at the same intersection.
Cars, trucks and bikes approach the three-way stop at high speed in Seadoone and School Road and fail to adhere to the stop sign. They don’t even slow down. These maniacs obviously don’t care about other people’s lives nor their own. Can the traffic authorities do something about these dangerous drivers?
