Don’t shift the blame [LETTER]

I encourage Zungu to start doing her job with regards to the Athlone Park residents and I request that Beetge continue “interfering” in ward 93 until Zungu eventually provides some service, if ever.

EDITOR – Firstly, I observe that there is not a readers views or letters column in the newspaper anymore.

In today’s edition, August 20, of your newspaper, councillor Zungu stated that “Athlone Park residents prefer dealing with him (councillor André Beetge), because they probably belong to the same political party as him”.

This is simply political hogwash as people generally gravitate toward real leaders, who actually do something, which is what Beetge does, as Zungu is of no value to the residents of Athlone Park. It has nothing to do with politics.

Also, she said that “it is wrong for Beetge to interfere in ward 93, he is not supposed to do that”. The residents of Athlone Park appreciate Beetge “interfering” in ward 93 as this is the only way we get any feedback on what is happening, especially the water outages.

Friends have tried to contact Zungu and she promises to call them back, but never does. The only reason why Zungu has any inkling as to what is happening in Athlone Park, is because friends of mine send her the updates sent to us by Beetge. Otherwise she would not have a clue. Zungu should be grateful that someone is doing her job for her.

I encourage Zungu to start doing her job with regards to the Athlone Park residents and I request that Beetge continue “interfering” in ward 93 until Zungu eventually provides some service, if ever.

Alternately, I prefer Athlone Park to be moved across to ward 97 where Beetge actually does his job, and more.
