All U13 cricketers coached by the Amanzimtoti Cricket Club School of Cricket Excellence (ACCSC) were selected for the South Coast U13 squad.

Three players, Keagan Collyer, Dylan Colley and Blu Belluigi, were also selected to play for the Durban South team, which includes Chatsworth and the Bluff areas, in the KZN trials to be held in the third week of September.

The director of ACCSC, Steve Belluigi felt that not only the cricketers, but their school coaches and parents should take credit for this achievement.

“The Athlone Park Primary School and Toti Primary School coaches worked closely with us to ensure these boys were given every opportunity to express their abilities,” said Steve.

“It is not easy for these coaches to pay particular attention to the selected few who tried out for the various teams and the ACCSC were able to assist in this regard. The boys therefore did not receive mixed advice as school and ACCSC coaches kept each other abreast on each player’s progress.”

According to Steve, parents who invested so much time, effort and money in the young cricketers are to be commended as the boys not only did them proud on the field, but each was offered substantial bursaries from local and Durban schools as a result of their prowess on the cricket field.
